Spike Adventures
Kayak Tours
Travel through time and history by kayak as we show you the scenic beauty of this historic harbour.
Cork Harbour is the 2nd largest natural harbour in the world and was the last port of call of the Titanic. It was once one of the most fortified ports in the world with 4 military instilations, Spike Island, Fort Camden, Fort Carlisle and Haulbouline Naval base.
Our tours take you around the inner harbour showing you the towns, islands, wildlife and forts of this historic location.
Half day tours
Our half day tours are the ideal way to see the harbour for the first time.
This tour takes in the sights of Cobh, Haulbowline, Spike and Rock Islands. As you kayak through the harbour you will see the home of the Irish Navy, the historic town of cobh with its magnificent Cathedral, Spike Island (Irelands Alcatraz) and Rock Island – once a magazine building for the Royal Navy and now an island crematorium. You will also take a walk around the prison island of Spike as part of your trip.
You will never be short of company on the trip, as you will see a wide variety of sea birds, and meet the always curious seals as you kayak by. Keep an eye out for the bigger residents such as porpoise and dolphins.
Cobh is the port of call to over 50 of the worlds largest cruise liners each year. On you tour you will get the chance to kayak along side these giants of the sea. Click the link below for dates of cruise liners.
