Lifeguarding and Watersafety
Ronan our chief instructor teaches all levels of the Irish Water Safety syllabus. Ronan is one of the most experienced instructors in the country and has been teaching and coaching all aspects of lifesaving since 1996.
He has competed for Cork at both national and international level. He has also coached the Cork senior and junior lifesaving teams for 6 years. Ronan has coached and guided competitors to become national champions and members of the national squad. Ronan was also a beach lifeguard for 7years and senior
lifeguard on Garrettstown, one of Corks busiest beaches.
Irish Water Safety, the national governing body, certifies all of our courses.
Beach Lifeguard Award:
This Irish Water Safety certified course is internationally recognised and is the qualification needed to become a beach lifeguard and surfing instructor in Ireland. Full details of the syllabus are available on the IWS website.

Pool Lifeguard Award:
This Irish Water Safety certified course is internationally recognised and is the qualification needed to become a Pool lifeguard in Ireland. Full details of the syllabus are available on the IWS web site.

Water Safety and Resuscitation:
We teach all levels of the IWS syllabus from Safety 1 to Rescue 4. These courses are for all people age 10 upwards. On these courses you will learn personal safety, rescue techniques and resuscitation.
Nipper’s Lifesaving Club:
Learn beach life saving as well as the techniques used in competition. Kids from age 8 upwards will make new friends and learn the skills needed to be safe competent water users. Also learn how to use equipment such as can buoy, fins and paddleboards. Resuscitation and lifesaving theory is also thought as part of the activities. The club will also teach the competitive side of lifesaving and different events.
The club takes place on Ardmore strand on Saturday mornings from 10 – 12. Numbers are limited to 10 for safety reasons and to ensure a fun learning environment.
Club runs from July 3rd – Sept 4th
Swimming prerequisite: swim 25m front crawl face in the water without any swimming aids.
